Expedito Carneiro da Silva

In Memoriam

My father painted the way he lived: with patience and serenity. Every landscape was a thank-you to God for the beauty of creation, and a gift to those he loved.

About him

Born in Itaitinga — a town with roots in historic Pacatuba —, Expedito Carneiro da Silva devoted most of his life to the discipline and courage of military service in the Brazilian Navy. Yet it was after retirement that he let another great calling flourish in full: the visual arts.

Stepping into the world of painting, he immersed himself in the study of different techniques, styles and artistic languages, finding on canvas a new way to express his sensitivity and his love for the world around him. Though he explored still lifes with a delicate touch, it was in landscape painting that he found his true signature. With every brushstroke he captured horizons, light and memories with the serenity of someone who knew how to contemplate life.

He devoted his final years entirely to art, leaving a sincere and moving visual legacy. This space honors his memory and his passion, bringing together the work of an artist from Ceará who proved it is never too late to reinvent yourself and leave beauty in the world.
